- Starting setup
- For KT setups covered by its manual: printed front-wing value + printed mast value = baseline tail-shim value. A zero result still requires the zero shim.
- Adjustment to consider
- Use the calculated baseline; confirm your exact components in KT’s manual.
- Expected effect
- Restores the intended starting geometry.
- Tradeoff / limitations
- Feel varies with the complete setup. The manual also warns about small tails, large wings and short fuselages; check those restrictions first.
- Installation
- Use KT shims. Follow its signed values, orientation illustrations and supplied hardware requirements.
Compare one change at a time. Record your starting setup, use similar conditions, and return to baseline if control worsens. Mast position, stance and speed can also affect the symptoms.

How these estimates are calculated
FoilKlub converts rider weight to kilograms, applies discipline- and experience-based starting ratios for board volume and front-wing area, adjusts for typical conditions, and rounds to practical size increments. Mast ranges are set by discipline. Stabilizer sizing is the least precise because shape and design vary greatly by brand.
These are FoilKlub starting estimates—not manufacturer prescriptions or a safety approval. We compare the output ranges with published product-size ranges and revise the calculator as reliable information changes.
